JESP stands for "Javan Endemic Species Programme". The programme was created in 2014 as an umbrella organization for various conservation projects focussing on Javan endemic species. Our mission is to initiate and conduct, but also to support conservation and research projects on Java, Indonesia, to facilitate the collaboration of different projects in order to increase their impact, and to support new projects especially led by young Indonesian and international conservationists and researchers.
The focus is on Javan endemic species, but we are open for projects supporting all kinds of species that are threatened by extinction or so little known that research is needed to make sure they are not threatened.
We finally value the importance of conservation education initiatives, capacity building and empowerment of local communities, and an interdisciplinary approach of conservation.
